The service, which has been in development for three months and beta for about a week, has a minimalist aesthetic, focusing on delivering content and then getting out the way. You'll need a Google account to sign up, and you can then pull in your RSS subscriptions from Google Reader.
Once in, you can save stories, share links to Facebook and Twitter, and -- of course -- share links with Digg. That's pretty much it right now, though the company admits that it's very much a work in progress. Coming features include the ability to view only unread items, mark items as unread after they've been read.
That puts it some way behind competitors like Feedly and Newsblur, but perhaps the Digg brand still has enough clout to rope in a few users with a promise of simplicity.
If you'd like to give it a try, head on over to digg.com/reader. There's also an iOS app, with an Android one due in "the next few weeks".
